The Bronze-Making Process

Lost-Wax Casting

Sculpting & Mold Making

The original sculpture is developed and divided into casting sections. Flexible molds are then created to reproduce its form and surface details accurately.

Wax Pattern Refinement

Wax replicas are carefully inspected, trimmed and retouched by hand to restore fine details and prepare clean edges for casting.

Ceramic Shell Building

The wax patterns are repeatedly coated with ceramic slurry and refractory material, forming a heat-resistant shell around each section.

The ceramic shells are heated to remove the wax and fired at high temperature, leaving hollow molds ready to receive molten bronze.

Bronze is melted at a controlled temperature and carefully poured into the preheated ceramic shells to reproduce the sculpture’s form.

Welding, Chasing & Patination

After cooling, the bronze sections are released, welded and hand-chased. The surface is refined and heat-treated to create the final patina.
